This year we made the decision to hold our regular Choir Residential weekend locally at Pleasant Point Yacht Club in South New Brighton. We were delighted to be joined by the outstandingly talented Gavin Hurley, who had recently completed Stage Direction of the outstanding musical, Breaking Plates at the Isaac Theatre.
Gavin led us through 5 new songs and taught us many new vocal techniques to improve our singing and awareness of the use of our voices as musical instruments.
Saturday evening we then all came together for a shared pot lunch dinner, with the Basses and Tenors working hard in the kitchen to create the main courses, whilst the Altos & Sopranos sat and wine tasted! The evening culminated in a very happy birthday for one of our Alto’s, Sam, as we shared a very large chocolate cake and sang her the song we all know well – Happy Birthday! A great weekend leaving us with heads full to bursting of new potential songs and knowledge
