I have been singing in Global voices since 1996. I loved it straight away, and I even recruited a few who are still in choir to this day! I was bought up in Invercargill and was heavily involved in the Performing Arts. I sang in our church choir from when I was a young child until a became a very naughty teenager and went onto other hobbies! I love the challenge of learning new songs and the joy that comes from when we all know our parts in the choir, and it sounds amazing. I also really enjoy going on our regular Residential Choir camps, where we have visiting Musical Directors. On these weekends we can learn up to six or seven new songs that are from all over the world, and it’s a good time to get to know new choir members. We also have lots of fun with fundraising and many other social gatherings, and I’ve loved performing in all the different places over the years as it’s always lots of fun (with some nerves of course!) I enjoy singing Gospel and African songs and of course a Romania Gypsy song in which I have a small solo, Sao Roma! The audience love this one! I can’t imagine not being with the Global Voices singing family. It enriches my life, and I am sure it uplifts people when we perform.
